Mantan Ketua Mahkamah Konstitusi (MK) Mahfud MD mengaku kaget karena mengetahui Akil Mochtar menyimpan uang di tembok ruang karaoke di rumah dinas Ketua MK, Jalan Widya Candra III Nomor 7, Jakarta Selatan.
Hal itu diketahui Mahfud setelah ditanya penyidik Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK) yang memeriksanya hari ini.
"Yang mengagetkan bagi saya justru ternyata uang-uang Akil disimpan di tembok-tembok ruang karaoke saya dulu. Soalnya, saya kan dulu punya ruangan karaoke di Widya Chandra itu. Nah, sekarang tembok-temboknya itu dijadikan tempat simpan uang," kata Mahfud seusai dimintai keterangan KPK, Senin (13/1/2014) malam.
Ia menjelaskan, awalnya penyidik KPK menanyakannya apakah ia mengetahui adanya ruang karaoke di Widya Chandra. Mahfud menjawab, ruangan itu dibangun olehnya.
Menurut Mahfud, uang di balik tembok itu telah disita KPK. Namun, ia mengaku tak tahu jumlah uang yang disimpan Akil di ruang karaoke itu.
"Enggak tahu, saya enggak tanya dan enggak pengin tahu juga. Sudah tahu uangnya (Akil) lebih dari Rp 100 miliar, sudah cukup bukti," katanya.
Mahfud menyamakan Akil dengan mantan Presiden Tunisia Ben Ali yang menyimpan uang di lemari perpustakaan. "Gila itu kayak Presiden Tunisia Ben Ali. Presiden Ben Ali kan uangnya disimpan di lemari perpustakaan. Akilgitu juga, tapi di ruang karaoke," ujarnya.
